| Intercultural training - Conflict prevention |
Intercultural communication and conflict prevention in local communitiesWe have designed our training courses on intercultural communication for professionals who work with people coming from various cultural and social backgrounds and who often have to act as mediators between majority and minority social groups.
The training course, indirectly, is aimed at reducing conflicts between the various social and ethnic groups of local communities through the involvement of and cooperation among these groups.
In the training course, the participants get to know the sources of conflicts between groups coming from different cultural backgrounds and learn how to recognize, understand and facilitate them. The courses reinforce social cooperation, since the representatives of the majority and the minority groups are both present. The different groups get to know each other's standpoints and problems through small group work and plenary sessions and learn how to harmonize their standpoints. Participation is not linked to educational background, but rather in accordance with the principles of intercultural education, the training course is strongly built on the personal competencies and experiences of participants.
One of the most important aims of the training course is to deconstruct mutual prejudices. Thus, this training course can be a good introduction to anti-discrimination programs. The basic program takes two days and is made up of the following modules:
1. Communication 2. Identity and the communication strategies of identity 3. The cultural motifs of behavior 4. The role of stereotypes and prejudices in communication 5. Intercultural conflicts and their possible solutions References
