Our volunteer in Ecuador- the European Voluntary Service outside of Europe
Since Hungary became a member of the European Union, the organizations taking part in the Youth 2000-2006 Program also have the opportunity to cooperate with countries outside of Europe, the so-called partner countries. Taking advantage of this opportunity, Artemisszió was the first in Hungary to send a volunteer to, Quito, the capital of Ecuador. The actual project was preceded by a preliminary visit. Our partner organization, the Fundación José Peralta welcomed us warmly and introduced their organization. The Fundación deals with youth research and offers various opportunities and programs for local young people. As far as the active participation of local young people is concerned, Hungarian young people could learn a lot from their Ecuadorian peers! During our visit, we had the chance to get a glimpse into the daily life of Ecuador. We also visited the main sights of the capital, the Equator and an indigenous market.

Our volunteer Bernadett Szijártó will spend nine months in Quito. Her tasks will include statistical and research activities as well as the creation of a database about youth organizations in Quito.
