Call for participants for youth workers involved in EVS
Have you ever wondered whether the learning opportunities inherent in EVS have really been used to their full potential in your projects?
Have you ever wondered how to support your volunteer's learning better?

Come to the "TOOLS 4 EVS" to learn and think together with colleagues from all over the world about:
" How can we support the volunteer's learning process better?
" What kind of tools/methods can we use?
" What is learning, how do we learn and why?
" How can we measure learning and how can we make it visible?
" What is learning in EVS and what kind of dynamics does it follow?
" How can we support the volunteer's learning process in different phases of the project?
" What is learning in EVS from the perspectives of the different actors such as S.O., H.O., trainers, ex-volunteers' associations, etc.?
When?
The training will take place from the 8th - 13th of August 2008.
Where?
Telč, Czech Republic (http://www.telc.eu)
Aims:
" To understand the EVS-Learning-Process as a complex experience: before-during-after the project;
" To connect the perspective of the different actors involved in the learning process - volunteer, S.O., H.O., ex-volunteers' association, trainers, etc.;
" To learn about how the volunteer's learning process can be supported efficiently, identifying knowledge, skills, attitudes needed to facilitate the volunteer's learning, exchanging experience and tools;
" To create an outcome for multiplication (about learning support in EVS, to keep the results of the training, the form depending on the group's creativity).
What is "Tools 4 EVS"?
"Tools 4 EVS" is a training course organized with the support of the Czech N.A., in collaboration with the V4 countries.
It aims at better understanding the EVS learning process and improving the related support strategies.
Participants will:
1. Learn about learning processes in general,
2. Analyze the EVS learning process,
3. Share tools and best practice about EVS learning support (ways of planning the learning process, evaluation methods, using Youthpass, etc.),
4. Have space to try out and adapt tools to their/their organisations' needs and plan steps to improve their projects,
5. Collect, summarise and record the conclusions of the training course in the form of suggestions for a future "product" used for multiplication.
The methodology used:
" non-formal, interactive methods, experiential learning
" exchange of practice, sharing, discussing, using the experience of participants + trainers
" theoretical inputs
" reflection on own learning
What "Tools 4 EVS" is not?
" It is not a SO-HO training, where we talk about EVS in general - we will focus on learning
" It is not the training where inexperienced participants can learn about EVS - we need experienced participants able to share and discuss their practice
" It is not a training where you can just sit back and listen - we need your active participation
" It is not a contact making seminar - though we hope you will be able to make contacts as well
" It is not paid holidays - though it will be summer and Telč is a nice city! :
Profile of eligible participants:
Participants from any program or partner country and of any age (18+) are welcome, if they
" work with EVS and are in direct contact with EVS volunteers, supporting their learning process, being one of the following: a mentor / a project coordinator (S.O., H.O., C.O.) / an ex-volunteer
" are experienced, having already organised at least one complete EVS project, following the volunteer from the beginning till the end of the project activities
" have a good working level of English
" are available during the whole training course (meaning training and travel days)
